How it works

A guided succession journey, in four stages

Succession Navigator is a web-based, multi-tenant platform designed for advisers to run with ease. You begin each meeting with a natural conversation, and the AI guides you to the next step.

  1. Engagement

Meet the family, map who's involved, and work through the conversations that establish what's actually going on.

    about 3 pages

  2. Planning

Record assets, entities and liabilities, then develop possible succession pathways from the case as it stands.

    about 2 pages

  3. Validation

Route specific questions to the other professionals a decision depends on, with a redacted, professional-safe brief.

    about 2 pages

  4. Build

Agree the final strategy, produce the plan document, and set the implementation roadmap the family will work to.

    about 4 pages

These are the product's actual console stages, not a marketing simplification. The page counts are real — it looks like a lot from the outside, and it makes sense once you're in it.

Stage by stage

What actually happens in each

Engagement

about 3 pages

Meet the family, map who's involved, and work through the conversations that establish what's actually going on.

This is where most of the work sits. You map the family, run the structured meetings, and conduct one-on-one Family Perspective interviews with every family member — including the ones not farming, whose views are usually the least documented and the most likely to derail a plan later.

Planning

about 2 pages

Record assets, entities and liabilities, then develop possible succession pathways from the case as it stands.

The AI proposes multiple materially different pathways and is explicitly barred from ranking or recommending one. Each keeps its assumptions, risks and dependencies visible, and options you rule out stay on the record with the reason why.

Validation

about 2 pages

Route specific questions to the other professionals a decision depends on, with a redacted, professional-safe brief.

Around eighteen professional disciplines can be drawn in. Each receives a redacted, professional-safe briefing package — the case context, the specific question, and what their answer affects — rather than the family's whole file.

Build

about 4 pages

Agree the final strategy, produce the plan document, and set the implementation roadmap the family will work to.

The output is a finished plan document you hand the family. That document is also what lets them engage other providers for the pieces outside your expertise — a solicitor for the legal work, a broker for the financing.

The meeting flow

A guide behind you, not a script in front of you

This is the part advisers are most sceptical about, and the part that changes their mind fastest. You are having a conversation. You are not filling in forms.

  1. You open a meeting and ask an open question

Nothing is scripted. You start where it makes sense to start with the family sitting in front of you.

  2. The AI transcribes and listens

You ask as many follow-up questions as you want, in whatever order feels natural. The conversation stays a conversation.

  3. You choose when to move on

Select the next question and the AI generates it from what’s already been covered, measured against the objectives for that stage.

  4. The platform tells you when the stage is done

Not when the meeting ends — when the outcomes for that stage are genuinely covered. Then you schedule the next one.

Balance the conversation, transcript and live guidance

The normal Meeting Workspace keeps three essential elements in balance: the conversation checklist, the facilitator's current question and transcript, and the Live Context Review. Everything needed to guide the meeting is available on one screen. Advisers can stay present with the family while the system quietly organises coverage and emerging follow-up needs.

Whole-family collaboration

Parents lead. Children contribute. Nobody is an afterthought.

Traditional succession approaches tend to be top-down — parents decide and present it as final, which doesn't work — or bottom-up, driven by children pushing for it while the parents feel sidelined, which doesn't work either.

Succession Navigator balances family input. Parents lead the process, while children provide tailored input through the platform. It's collaborative yet structured, with the adviser guiding every step.

As conversations happen with the parents, the platform learns about the family and surfaces assumptions that need checking. A parent saying “Tom will take over the farm” is recorded as what it is: the parent's present understanding, not Tom's confirmed intention.

From there the platform generates tailored, person-specific questions for the relevant family member about work, management, ownership, debt, timing and risk. That family member gets their own scoped login and answers in their own time, from anywhere — no phone tag, no awkward forced conversations. Their answers feed back into the family's case, and any pathway that depends on them stays clearly conditional until their position is known.

Parents make the decisions. Children help shape the plan — they don't control it.

Progression control

The case moves on when it's ready, not when the meeting ends

The platform gates progression until the case is genuinely ready. A missing answer that could materially change who succeeds, what is owned, what debt exists or whether retirement can be funded will hold the case rather than let a polished-looking option get built on top of it.

The recommendation is visible to you. You review the supporting information and make the call.

Delivery, and what follows

The engagement has an end

The core deliverable is a finished plan document you hand the family — a real, comprehensive, professional document, not a summary of meetings.

As the adviser, you deliver a clear, actionable plan to your clients. The major engagement is complete, and any ongoing support is light maintenance — keeping the plan aligned over time.

Circumstances change: a successor changes direction, a valuation moves, professional advice invalidates an assumption. The case can return to family consultation or option development without losing its earlier evidence history, and changes to the preferred direction are versioned rather than silently overwritten.
